DJs NDN, Frame and Bear Witness founded the ELECTRIC POW WOW in 2008, later adding two-time Canadian DMC Champ DJ Shub to the crew. These veterans of the Ottawa music scene come together to create an eclectic sound incorporating hip hop, dance hall, electronica, and their own mash-up of club and Pow Wow music. For this special edition of Electric Pow Wow, they welcome some special prairie guests.

Wab Kinew is a sun dancer, rap artist and Winnipeg-based producer/host for CBC Radio. An Anishinabe from the Lake of the Woods area, his debut album Live By The Drum was released in 2009, winning him Best Rap/Hip Hop CD at the Aboriginal People’s Choice Awards.

Eekwol is Canada’s first solo Aboriginal female hip hop artist, paying homage to her Muskoday First Nations roots through compelling and experimental storytelling rhymes.  For over 10 years, she’s used her mastery of words and music to communicate across the country, performing on countless stages across Canada.
