Banjo player Leonard Podolak founded THE DUHKS to infuse old roots traditional music with a contemporary vibe. The band quickly garnered critical acclaim and a significant fan following with their eclectic mix of traditional bluegrass, folk rock, Afro-Cuban jazz, soul and French traditional. These days, they’re considered one of the most compelling acts on the roots scene. According to Leonard, The Duhks “just want to play music that speaks to everybody.” Mission accomplished.

Karrnnel Sawitsky is a fiddle sensation, hailed as one of the most dynamic and original fiddle players in the country. With an infectiously appealing stage presence, he dazzles audiences playing music inspired by everything from Canadian Old Time, to bluegrass, jazz, blues, rock, country, and classical. Adding to the fiddle fun, Daniel Koulack, Winnipeg’s bravura banjo maestro, joins Karrnnel on stage to share music from their recent CD collaboration.

The progressive roots band have produced another diverse set of songs that incorporate their bluegrass, Celtic and rock influences into a unique style that places them at the frontlines of modern acoustic music.
